ABOUT US
Hello, everyone! Welcome to The Not so Bored Sisters, a safe space where three Mexican-American sisters will share book and occasional movie reviews! In case you were wondering about our username, it pays homage to the joke reminding us that we should never be bored in Mexican household. In other words, if you are bored, you will be stuck completing an unpleasant chore.
From a young age, we have loved reading. We visited our local library on a weekly basis. When we got older, we visited our library more frequently as teen volunteers. Now, we are currently working in libraries and/or studying to be librarians. The two older sisters have completed our Master of Library Science degree (MLS), and the youngest sister is about halfway done with hers.
Although we are sisters, the three of us and our reading tastes are very different. Our reading tastes occasionally overlap, even though we each have our preferred genres. The genre that we all like is romance, but our comfort with the spiciness varies. We also bond over graphic novels and young adult novels, especially with those where we feel represented.
If you are curious, here is some more information about us:
-
Laura (The Oldest Sister) – I graduated with my MLS in May 2025. I also graduated with a History MA in May 2020. I have experience working in both public and academic libraries. My favorite genres are thrillers and romance.
-
Eva (The Middle Sister) – I graduated with my MLS in May 2023. I am currently a librarian at a public library. I love reading romance books! However, my busy schedule means that I will likely review mostly movies.
-
Kiki (The Little Sister) – I am currently working on my MLS. I have experience volunteering in public libraries. My types of books are non-fiction (especially Sociology), historical fiction, romance, and general fiction.
Our diverse interests have helped us create unique physical To be Read (TBR) lists. During our road trips around Texas, we have found amazing bargains in book stores, thrift shops, and library book sales. We also have occasionally found great online deals. Since we are always volunteering and working in libraries, it is also exciting to find our next read in the stacks.
Thank you for joining us in this new adventure! We are excited to share with you our opinions and reactions to books and movies.
